Câlnic

Câlnic is a town in Alba County, Transylvania, Romania. It is best known for its well-preserved medieval fortified church, traditional architecture and peaceful countryside surroundings.

The town is most famous for the Câlnic Fortified Church, one of the most important medieval monuments in the region. The fortified church reflects the history of the Transylvanian Saxon communities that built defensive religious complexes throughout the area during the Middle Ages.

Câlnic offers visitors a quieter experience than the larger cities of Transylvania. It is suitable for travellers interested in history, traditional villages, medieval architecture and rural landscapes.

It is 14 km from Sebeș.
