Position
[edit | edit source]1 Fisherman's Beach: S34°12.357’ E018°27.497’
The next cove south of Froggy Pond. It has a much longer beach.
This site is in a Marine Protected Area (2004). A permit is required. The site is entirely inside the Boulders Restricted Zone.
Name
[edit | edit source]No record has been found for the origin of the name "Fisherman's Beach". It is not even popular as a fishing spot.
Depth
[edit | edit source]Shallow. The 10 m contour is over a hundred metres from the shore.
Visibility
[edit | edit source]Visibility is not very good as it is shallow and the surge lifts the fine sand, but it is usually well illuminated.

Topography
[edit | edit source]Granite boulders of various sizes on mostly sand bottom with some reef. None reaching surface at fairly low tide.
Geology: Late Pre-Cambrial granite of the Peninsula pluton.
Conditions
[edit | edit source]Very sheltered area, usually only dived if other local sites too rough. It is a relatively safe entry end exit even when too rough to be worth diving, as it is very shallow and wave action will make the surge unpleasant. The site is exposed to wind and waves from the south east, and may be good in north westerly or south westerly winds. The site is reasonably protected from south west swell.
