29 October 2018 saw me cross over the Bulgarian/Romain border between Ruse and Giurgiu not once, but three times. The once a day through train which runs in the afternoon from Ruse to București misses out a short section of line on the Romanian side between Giurgiu Nord and the main Giurgiu station.
So to work around that, I took a taxi from Ruse to the town centre of Giurgiu to pick up local train to cover the section to Giurgiu Nord. After a meal break, I then took the train from București from Giurgiu Nord to Ruse and 30 minutes later back over the border again to București on its return working.
Seen here is train 9343, 09:57 Videle to Giurgiu formed of 2-car Desiro set 962113 with 962513. As in Bulgaria, these trains have suffered badly with graffiti and cracks to the windows after stones etc. have been thrown at them.
