Summary
English: The former Jewish Museum at Oranienburger Straße No. 31 in Berlin-Mitte. The building stands to the left of the New Synagogue. It was donated by the married couple Moritz and Bertha Mannheimer and built around 1900 as home for ailing and elderly members of the Jewish community. After a renovation conducted by Alexander Beer, the building served as seat of the Jewish Museum from 1933 to 1938. The facade of the building is marked by the contrast between the sandstones of the ground floor and the bricks of the top floors. The portal was used as passage to the inner yard, where a side wing is located. The building is landmarked.
