English: Castle ruins, Ludlow Standing inside what would have been the Judges' Lodgings. The large square-headed window tells us this was built during the Elizabethan period. The castle became Crown property in 1461 and remained a royal palace for the next 350 years, except for a brief period during the Civil War and Commonwealth.
