Евангелическо-лютеранская церковь построена в 1874-1876 Карлом Карловичем Бульмерингом (1820-1888) и стала, наряду с построенной Фельтеном церковью Св.Ектерины на Большом пр.одним из духовных центров немцев , составлявших тогда значительную часть населения Васильевского острова.
