Gladstone (Michigan)

Gladstone is a city of about 4700 people (2018) in Michigan.

Gladstone (nicknamed "Happy Rock") is a small community on Lake Michigan's Little Bay de Noc. The settlement was founded in 1877 as Minnewasca, but its name was changed to honor British politician William Ewart Gladstone.

The area is well known for its walleye fishing, and tournaments have been organized by major sports fishing authorities in the community.

The annual Independence Day celebration is one of the largest events in the city. There are seasonal events at Van Cleeve Park. For up-to-date information, please check with the city's website.

Depending on the time of year, Gladstone has different events going on. The Gladstone Ski Park is where many people go to in winter for skiing, snow tubing, and snowboarding activities, From May 15 to March 31, walleye season goes on and draws many fisherman to the area.

There are a fair number of bars in Gladstone. The Saloon and Walley's are the more popular bars in town.
