- Main article Stockholm Archipelago Trail
The trail can begin at one of the ferry stops, either at the 1 North Ingmarsö ferry stop or the 2 South Ingmarsö ferry stop. Alternatively, you can arrive by 1 taking the rowboat from Finnhamn or start by walking SAT Brottö.
Ingmarsö is a lively and welcoming island in the central Stockholm archipelago, with a small permanent population that swells considerably during the summer months when holidaymakers arrive to enjoy the island's relaxed pace. The trail section here is easy and around 9 km long, making it well suited to both casual walkers and cyclists. The route winds through a varied landscape of open farmland, quiet forest, and rocky shoreline, following well-maintained gravel roads marked with yellow and blue signs, with occasional narrower trails that wind through the forest. Grazing animals keep the meadows open, and there are several spots along the way where you can take a dip in the water. Bicycles can be rented at the southern harbour if you prefer to explore on two wheels.
You can also hike along the 2 Båtluffarleden to 1 Kålgårdsön Nature Reserve and then 3 take a rowboat to Finnhamn. Two rowboats are kept at the crossing for hikers to use free of charge, but you must ensure one remains on each side after your crossing, which may mean an extra trip back with one boat in tow.
The island also has an interesting cultural heritage worth exploring. Close to the northern quay you will find the 2 Ingmarsö Brottö Local Heritage Museum and the 3 Community Center Urkan, both a short detour from the main trail. Down at the southern harbour, several small businesses are gathered within easy walking distance of each other: 1 Ingmarsö bread and breakfast offers overnight accommodation, the 2 Coop Ingmarsö Grocery Store stocks everyday essentials year-round, and both the 3 Ingmarsö Bread Shop and 4 Ingmarsö Bakery are worth a stop for fresh bread, pastries, and a fika break. For a full meal with a view of the water, 1 Ingmarsö Krog sits right by the guest harbour. A short walk further brings you to the 4 Femsundviken Bathing Area, a popular swimming spot before the trail heads east toward Kålgårdsön, where you will also find a 5 Barbecue Area.
The trail can begin at 3 Brottö ferry stop or start with walking SAT Ingmarsö. Brottö is offering a short but scenic hiking section. The trail on Brottö is not marked, but it follows a gravel road through a cultural landscape, passing pastures and a farm before reaching a gate where the section ends.
Hikers can continue from Brottö to Ingmarsö and further on to Finnhamn via the Båtluffarleden trail. The terrain is easy to navigate, making it accessible for strollers and those with limited mobility.
