Map of Stockholm Archipelago Trail/Landsort

The trail on Landsort, the southernmost point of the Stockholm archipelago, follows the yellow/blue SAT markers which here overlap with the blue dot rock markings of the local Öjaleden trail. Dependent on wind conditions, the ferry from Ankarudden docks at one of three stops: 58.76883417.858391 Landsort north ferry stop, 58.74454217.8645692 Landsort west ferry stop, or 58.74378217.8682743 Landsort east ferry stop. If arriving at the north stop, a bus runs to the village. The trail is a loop, so hikers can join it at any point.

The route crosses rocky coastal cliffs and sparse vegetation — slippery in wet weather — on this narrow island just 4.5 km long. Highlights include the 58.73958317.8656671 Sweden's oldest lighthouse, first lit in the 1600s and now home to a new historical exhibition, and the 58.76444417.8641672 Batteri Landsort, an underground Cold War coastal artillery base open for guided tours year-round. The 58.7492417.8644953 Labyrinth, known since 1454, and the 58.74981417.8642784 Plague cemetery are also worth a detour. The island is a designated nature reserve and a renowned birdwatching spot, with a 58.74632817.8673995 bird station active since 1988 — ferry boats can fill up during migration season. Food and limited groceries are available at 58.74427117.8653391 Saltboden and 58.76857817.8571432 Café Norrhamn. Accommodation ranges from the 58.74119217.8672471 Landsort hostel to the more exclusive 58.7433417.867092 Svedtilja's in the historic Pilot Tower.
