- Main article Stockholm Archipelago Trail
Möja is one of the larger inhabited islands in Stockholm's central archipelago, sitting at the point where the more sheltered inner islands give way to the open outer sea. It has a genuine, year-round community feel, with a school, grocery store, and several restaurants that stay open even outside the summer season. The trail section here is rated easy and runs roughly 14 km as a point-to-point route, making it one of the longer easy stages on the trail. The recommended direction is north to south, though it works just as well in reverse.
The trail offers a flexible start at several ferry points, including 1 Långviks ferry stop, 2 Ramsmora ferry stop, 3 Bergs ferry stop, and 4 Möjaström ferry stop. To simplify travel between these points, a bus service operates between Möjaström and Långvik, with schedules specifically timed to meet the ferries. It is a good idea to inform the ferry crew upon boarding if you intend to take the bus so they can arrange a vehicle of the appropriate size. As you explore this picturesque island, you'll find that the Stockholm Archipelago trail tends to follow the streets on Möja. While landowner permissions have made it challenging to develop a more rugged backcountry path, there is a lovely exception where the trail ducks into the forest for a short walk down to 1 Storsved. Along the way you can also rent a bike if you prefer to cover the gravel roads on wheels, and kayaks are available for those who want to explore the nature reserves just off the eastern shore.
The main walking route connects several distinct island communities. You will pass through 1 Långvik, a peaceful village at the northern end of the trail where you can find food at 1 Jeppes inn more or less year-round, as well as a summer general store. The path continues south through the picturesque village of 2 Ramsmora, from where a short detour east leads to the ferry quay and the 1 Roland Svensson museum, dedicated to the beloved Swedish illustrator who lived on the island. Further south lies 3 Berg, which serves as the island's main hub, with 1 Möja Coop grocery store, 2 Les Poissonniers de Möja fish restaurant, 3 Möja Värdshus, and the cosy 1 Möja hostel all within easy reach. The trail ends at 4 Hamn, a quiet historic fishing village with traditional cottages, though note there is no ferry service here so you will need to return to Möjaström or Berg to catch a boat. Along the way, do not miss the 2 Saltvik bathing spot, the charming outdoor cinema 3 Möja Bio, the 4 Möja outdoor adventure company offering kayak and boat rentals, and the 2 Kyrkviken guest harbour, which fills with visiting leisure boats throughout the summer.
