Map of Stockholm Archipelago Trail/Nåttarö

The challenging Nåttarö stage starts at 58.88176818.1098191 Nåttarö ferry stop, where a summer grocery store, restaurant, and bike and kayak rental are all within 50 metres of the quay. The route runs clockwise, heading north past the holiday village through beautiful sparse pine forest to 58.876918.13371 Nåttarö Storsand, the largest sandy beach in the archipelago, with shallow water ideal for swimming. From the southern end of the beach the trail climbs through forest past a radio mast before swinging out to the rugged, cliff-lined east coast, where the mossy forest floor and open horizon make for some of the wildest walking on the entire SAT. Notable detours include 58.87833318.1280561 Drottninggrottan — the cave where Queen Maria Eleonora hid before her exile — and 58.89166718.1333332 Bötsudden, with its historic remains and sweeping views. The island is a nature reserve managed by the Archipelago Foundation, with accommodation available in the holiday village.
