I moved all the Essex content to this article months ago, but I forgot my password and the reset thing doesn't seem to be working, sorry. Essex Junction is technically part of the town of Essex, but it maintains its own government as well. Half the town's population lives in Essex Junction and it will appear on most maps instead of Essex. I think its a good idea to merge the articles, but I think Essex(Vermont) should redirect to the Essex Junction article. Essex Junction is also, as far as I know, the only place with that name in the world so it wouldn't need any disambiguation. 71.162.75.102 02:25, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
You're obviously new to the area. =) There has been a very long running fight about merging the village and the town and a lot of the acrimony comes down to the name. As with the town and the village, a merger is a good idea but getting the name right is likely to be the hardest part. 75.69.32.90 00:54, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry buddy, I was born and raised there (spent 2+ decades). I know all about the merger fight. I'm from Essex Junction so maybe that colors my opinion of what the merged article should be called. Still, most of the attractions are in Essex Junction or clustered in the parts of Essex Town that border the village. I believe the last merger proposal would have had the combined entity named "Essex Junction" so that name still makes more sense. —The preceding comment was added by 108.20.184.227 (talk • contribs)
