The template tells InternetArchiveBot to ignore an external link, thus not marking it with {{dead link}}, if placed directly after the closing bracket of the link. This is useful if the link works for humans but not for bots, such as if the server blocks the bot without giving an appropriate error message, the page requires Javascript or the connection is so slow that the bot gives up.
Also some other bots recognise the template and ignore the marked links. Check for bots that should not ignore the link and might be affected.
The template has no real content, its effect is in its name being recognised.
