The Tomb of Lal Khan is a mausoleum located in Varanasi, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Laal Khan was a military commander of Artillary of Kashi Naresh Maharaja Balwant Singh. He had contributed important role during military mission of Kashi Naresh Balwant Singh to capture Chunar, Palita, Naugarh, Vijaygarh and Agori Forts. He was a sharp shooter over artillary gun. Due his contribution Kashi Naresh Maharaja Balwant Singh had captured the are a from Ballia - Buxar district in East to Allahabad in west and from Sidharth Nagar district in North to Sonbhadra district in South. Kashi Naresh had created an independent Banaras State/ Kashi State by the help of Laal Khan and other military commander of infantry and cavalry of Bhumihar clanmen. [1] It is listed as a monument of national importance.[2]
History

Lal Khan was a minister in the service of Balwant Singh. The tomb was built in 1773.Kashi Naresh Maharaja Balwant Singh had asked Laal Khan to make any wishes due to his outstanding assistance in terms of building Kashi Empire. Laal khan had wishes to be burial in front of Ramnagar fort after his death from where he could see the scenery of Ramnagar fort. Kashi Naresh Maharaja Balwant Singh had performed last rites of His bravery military commander Laal Khan by Muslim rituals and constructed a tomb named Laal - Khan- ka- rauza at Rajghat.[3][4]
Description
[edit]It is situated in the middle of a charbagh-style garden, which had chhatris on all four corners.[1][3]
The tomb is an example of Indo-Islamic architecture. is a square structure located on a square plinth. It is surmounted by a single large dome, with chhatris on four corners. Each side has three arches, with the central arch being slightly larger than the other two. The tomb is decorated with coloured tiles.[1][3]
