Vikos (Greek: Βίκος) is a village in the municipality of Zagori, in the Ioannina regional unit, Epirus, Greece.
History
[edit]Vikos is one of the villages of Zagori, known in Greek as the Zagorochoria (Greek: Ζαγοροχώρια). It overlooks the Vikos Gorge at an altitude of 770 meters, and is located on the borders of the Vikos-Aoos National Park.[2] It was formerly known as Vetsiko (Greek: Βετσικό) or Vitsiko (Greek: Βιτσικό). Its name was officially changed to Vikos in 1955, although the old names are still in common use.[3]
In 1951, the village had 50 inhabitants.[4] In the 2021 census, it recorded 27 inhabitants.[5]
