Wakhan District[a] is one of the 28 districts of Badakhshan province in eastern Afghanistan. Located between Tajikistan in the north and Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral District in the south, the district separates Tajikistan and Pakistan while also connecting Afghanistan to China as it has Afghanistan's only border with Xinjiang in China in the eastern side of the district.
