William Osgood 43rd Regiment, active militia of Canada & John Rogers, Governor General's Foot Guards, killed at the Battle of Cut Knife Hill during the 1885 Riel Rebellion. Note: The Sharpshooters statue was unveiled in 1888. Today the monument of a guardsman standing in mournful repose with his hands clasped on the butt of a rifle is in front of the Cartier Square Drill Hall, just off Queen Elizabeth Driveway and Laurier Avenue
