Definition of edit warring

Edit warring is a behavior, typically exemplified by the use of repeated edits to "win" a content dispute. It is different from a bold, revert, discuss (BRD) cycle. Reverting vandalism and banned users is not edit warring; at the same time, content disputes, even egregious point of view edits and other good-faith changes do not constitute vandalism. Administrators often must make a judgment call to identify edit warring when cooling disputes. Administrators currently use several measures to determine if a user is edit warring.

Definition of the three-revert rule (3RR)

An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Violations of this rule normally attract blocks of at least 24 hours. Any appearance of gaming the system by reverting a fourth time just outside the 24-hour slot is likely to be treated as a 3RR violation. See here for exemptions.

There is a long history involving Bluebird K7 and User talk:80.3.122.252 over a couple of years. Massive WP:NPOV failure, wrapped in the usual behavioural problems of attacks on other users, edit-warring and block. Their contribs history has a particular single focus, one that's far from constructive. An issue that's much wider than on-wiki.

An article expanding on one section of this history has recently been added: Search and Recovery of Bluebird K7 Obviously it ought to be linked from Bluebird K7, which has been done as:

80.3.122.252 has been repeatedly reverting to delete this link. Leaving no link from K7 to the recovery article. Which is ridiculous. No attempt to discuss this, beyond the first edit summary. Which I can't make any sense of.

• A few claims by Number 57 aren't quite correct. "Chrisahn moved the article in 2021 (without discussion)" I moved the page because another user had suggested it years earlier. I moved it to the name used in the only English-language source that was in the article. On the other hand, the move in April 2025 was indeed undiscussed and unsourced. "Chrisahn has been unable to restore their preferred title" I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. I didn't even try to move the page back. I'm not an admin, I can't delete the redirect. "Diff of attempt to resolve dispute on article talk page" N57 posted that after I posted a source on N57's talk page. Before that, I had tried to inform N57 that my edits were backed by a source, but N57 probably didn't really read my edit summaries and kept reverting me. I may be guilty of edit warring here myself, I really don't know. I find the rules of Wikipedia extensive, overwhelming, and confusing, so I can't tell if I've done wrong alongside Revirvlkodlaku or not, but I do know that my information that I've been fighting to retain on the Nahko page is officially sourced, for which I've provided a link, while his information seems to be baseless at worst and, at best, not found on the band's official website to which I've repeatedly linked him. By the way, I've tried putting links (for the link page and user page) and this comment within the provided punctuation (such as within the {{ symbols here) but they disappear when I click "Show preview", so I'm including them separately outside of the punctuation. Again, I don't know coding, so this whole process is very confusing to me. This is the best I can do. Apologies if I've done any part of this process incorrectly. Revirvlkodlaku and 208.77.56.242, you'll both need to focus on content on the article's talk page instead of addressing each others' actions and tone, both of which are irrelevant to the content decision. To illustrate the problem, I have removed some of the most unnecessary material from your comments here (and then restored them; I only needed something to link to).

And as long as there is no consensus about which of the two versions of the content should be included, it shouldn't be re-added. If you can find something you both can agree on, such as "On the Verge (2024)" with no additional text, then you can of course add that.

Note that he has blown through 3rr with 9 reverts today, although I have also broken 3rr with 8 (hence the {{whale}} on my talk page.
