Abease

Abease is in the northeast of the Ashanti-Kwahu region of Ghana.

The population is mainly peasant farmers. Abease is a paramount seat of "Abeasehene" (The Paramount Chief of Abease).

Abease is a settlement in the northeastern part of the Ashanti-Kwahu region of Ghana. It is situated in a predominantly rural area characterised by farming communities, forested landscapes and small settlements. Abease is part of the wider transition between the forest zone of southern Ghana and the drier interior.

Abease has a rural character, with agriculture forming an important part of everyday life and the local economy. The surrounding area consists mainly of cultivated land, patches of natural vegetation and settlements connected by local roads.

The community is within the cultural area of the Akan peoples, whose traditions have strongly influenced the history, language and social life of the wider Ashanti-Kwahu region.

Abease has a tropical climate, with warm conditions throughout the year and seasonal rainfall. The wetter periods support farming and the growth of vegetation, while the drier months can bring noticeably lower rainfall. Temperatures are generally higher during the daytime, while conditions may become more comfortable during the evening and early morning.

It is located midway between Prang and Kintampo.

Abease is small enough to explore on foot. Local taxis and motorcycles may be available for journeys to nearby communities.

The main tourist attraction in this village is the annual yam festival celebration called "Kwabena". During this festival, the Paramount Chief pours a series of libations with a climax being the carrying of the Chief in a palanquin amidst drumming, singing and dancing.
