Ai-Khanoum

Ai-Khanoum is one of the more important archaeological sites for the Graeco-Bactrian civilization. The city is thought by some experts to have been founded by Alexander as Alexandria-on-the-Oxus; others argue that it was founded a few decades later by one of his successors. It was destroyed around 145 BC.
