Alwar (अलवर Alvar), a city of 460,000 people (2018) in Rajasthan, is surrounded by the Aravalli Hills. It was one of the various princely states of Rajputana during the British times.

The city is around 160 km south of Delhi, and around 150 km north of Jaipur.

Buses frequently run from Deeg (₹30, 2½ hours), Delhi (for bus ₹96, 3½ to 4 hours) and Jaipur (for bus ₹90, 3½ to 4 hours).
