Atambua is a town in West Timor.

[edit | edit source]Atambua is located between Kefamenanu (West Timor) and Dili (East Timor). It is possible to cross from Kefamenanu to/from Timor Leste (East Timor) without spending a night here.
Get in
[edit | edit source]- From Kefamenanu (West Timor), 3-4 hours on land. Take the bus from Kefamenanu Bus Terminal, Rp25,000 per person (as of Dec 2018).
- From Dili (East Timor), 3-4 hours on land.
Get around
[edit | edit source]Only the Maxim ride-hailing operates in Atambua. Grab and Gojek are not available.
You can also hail an ojek on the street.

- Dili, the capital city of Timor Leste (East Timor), 3-4 hours. Regular bemos to the Motaain border crossing are no longer available. Instead, use the Maxim app to order an ojek or a car, or negotiate with an ojek driver on the street. As of 2026, per the Maxim app, an ojek to the border costs around Rp65,000 and a car costs around Rp100,000.
