Ballerup

Ballerup is a municipality in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, approximately 15 km from central Copenhagen, Denmark. The municipality has a population of 50,000 in 2023. It is also the name of the municipal seat, Ballerup city.

By train

S-train lines C and H goes through the region and stops at Skovlunde, Malmparken and Ballerup. Travelling from Copenhagen to Ballerup is about 30-40 minutes. Or if you're going even further S-train lines C and H stops at Måløv and even further only the S-train lines C stops at Kildedal.

Travel from Ballerup St. Zealand, to Aalborg, Aarhus, Herning, Odden, Randers, Silkeborg, Skive or Viborg in Jutland with the Kombardo Expressen-Buses. Express bus operating between Zealand and Jutland. Flex-buses operate as a special private service bus. Ballerup Turistfart’s buses, this bus company operates as a tourist bus service. To get around within each of the towns in the region, walking is fine. To get between Måløv, Skovlunde and Ballerup, go by S-train for a few minutes. To get to Smørum-nedre, take the S-train to Ballerup Station and then bus 216. (834 - Servicebus- Ballerup St. - Skovlunde St. - Ballerup St.) and (835 - Servicebus- Ballerup St. - Måløv - Ballerup St.).

Purchase a Single Ticket if you only intend to use public transport a few times during your stay, or consider a City Pass if you plan to travel by public transport on multiple occasions. Both tickets can easily be purchased through the DOT Tickets app or using ticket machines available at selected stations. By train

S-train lines C and H goes through the region and stops at Skovlunde St., Malmparken St., and Ballerup St. Travelling from Copenhagen to Ballerup is about 30-40 minutes. Or if you're going even further S-train lines C and H stops at Måløv St. and even further only the S-train lines C stops at Kildedal St.

  • S-trains, lines C and H, Towards to Copenhagen Central Station, Østerport St., Klampenborg St., Farum St. or to Frederiksund St. from Ballerup St. And some trains lines C and H only stops/ end of the line at Ballerup St. That means the train is not taking any passages and will depart shortly and will drive a little further to a cleaning station so this train can be ready for the next rides and also the train driver can relax for a little bit and also so the trains can be cleaned inside and washed a little bit and returned after that to the station again to Ballerup St.
  • Steam Locomotive, diesel locomotive, special trains rides, Ballerup-Klampemborg, Klampemborg-Ballerup with single tickets or returns with return tickets and the train is running by volunteers, only driving doing holidays. Prams, pushchairs, wheelchairs and electric scooters can be transported to the freight wagons while driving, and you will receive your things when you arrive to the next station if you want to get off of the train of course and while driving you are allowed to stand on the other side of the door on the small platform between the two doors. And smoking is also allowed, but it's only out on the small platforms, and is not allowed inside of the train and their carriages. When you arrive to the last station you can get off and go to the famous amusement park Bakken in Klampenborg to try some of those rides at amusement park or just get something to eat at some of the many places and restaurants and cafes around the amusement park or you could also in a horse You can also take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage around the King's Deer Park. But you can also wait for Klampenborg St. itself and wait for the steam locomotive to be disconnected, turn around and then drive back to the wagon again to drive back from Klampenborg Station to Ballerup Station again.

Jan–Feb: open Sun (Mon-Sat closed); closed between Christmas and New Year. A small idyllic village outside Ballerup, only made up of a few old thatched roof houses. The museum is housed in 4 of these buildings, with some exhibitions of local history. In another of the old houses Grantoftegård is an ecological farm with a nice restaurant, and a shop with bio-products made on the farm. If you take the S-train, you get off at Ballerup Station. From here, the Pederstrup Trail leads directly to the museum (about 15 min). From Ballerup Station, two buses stop a 5-min walk from the museum: Bus 143 stops at the corner of Vestbuen/Telegrafvej Bus 216 stops at Baltorpbakken/Baltorpvej. If you come by car, you drive to the museum along Pederstrupvej from Baltorpvej. The car can be parked at the museum at Pederstrupgård (6 parking spaces) or in front of Ryttergården, 150 m before the museum. Here there are 50 seats. Here there is also bus parking. 30 kr. If you take the S-train, you get off at Ballerup Station. From here, the Pederstrup Trail leads directly to the Grantoftegård. It takes about 15 min to walk from the station to Grantoftegård. From Ballerup Station, two buses stop a 5-minute walk from the Grantoftegård: Bus 143 stops at the corner of Vestbuen/Telegrafvej Bus 216 stops at Baltorpbakken/Baltorpvej If you come by car, you drive to the museum along Pederstrupvej from Baltorpvej. The car can be parked at Balleup museum at Pederstrupgård (6 parking spaces) or in front of Ryttergården, 150 m before the museum. Here there are 50 seats. Here there is also bus parking. There are no animals in the stables in summer. Free.
