Bangaon or Bongaon (Bengali: বনগাঁ Bangān) is a town of 110,000 people (2011) in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. It acts as a stopover to places like Bibhutibhushan Wildlife Sanctuary and Petrapole.

[edit | edit source]- 1 Bangaon Junction Sealdah . A part of the Kolkata Suburban Railway system. It is the last station on the Sealdah-Bangaon section of Eastern Railway, 77 km from Sealdah Station.

- 2 Ichamati River. The scenic beauty of the river can be seen from the Rakhaldas Bandyopadhyay Bridge and Rai Bridge built on the Ichamati River in Bangaon.
- 3 House of Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, Barakpur. The modest single-storey house with three rooms was the primary residence of Bengali novelist Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, known for novels like Pather Panchali and Chander Pahar. His original childhood home in Barakpur was destroyed in a storm, so he bought a new one two plots away in the 1930s. After the death of his son Taradas on 2010, the house became derelict for some time before being repaired and converted into a museum by Taradas's son Trinankur. Free.
