Bicske is a town of 12,000 people (2017), and a district in Fejér County.
Understand
[edit | edit source]The first Hungarian mention of Bicske was in 1306. Bicske benefited from the proximity of the capital, the coal mines and the good transport connections.

By plane
[edit | edit source]The nearest international airport is in Budapest.
By train
[edit | edit source]Bicske is on the Budapest – Hegyeshalom – Rajka railway line, so its railway station has a lot of railway traffic. It connects suburban trains with Budapest, Tatabánya, Komárom and Győr. There are fast trains from Budapest, Győr, Hegyeshalom, Sopron, Szombathely and Bratislava.
By car
[edit | edit source]Bicske is on the M1 motorway and the main road between Budapest and Vienna, and runs alongside Zsámbék.
By bus
[edit | edit source]Bicske is the dominant center of bus transport in the narrower area: Budapest, Mór, Székesfehérvár, Zsámbék and the surrounding settlements. Páty and Felcsút can be reached by regular bus services from the city.

- 1 Bicske Castle (Batthyány Mansion, Batthyány-kastély). The castle was built between 1754 and 1755. Archbishop József Batthyány enlarged it in the 1770s and then the chapel was also built . Tivadar Batthyány rebuilt the castle between 1796 and 1799. An exhibition on the Batthyány family is on display.
- 2 Church of the Holy Trinity. Baroque, 1770, the tower is 30 m high.
- Calvinist Church.
- In the centre of the town are excavated ruins of a temple with several tombs, dating from the 15th century
- Ruins of the Observatory and the astronomers' castle built by Charles the Great (19th century)

- 3 Alcsútdoboz. Arboretum, Late Baroque Protestant churches, remains of Habsburg Palace.
- 4 Csákvár (SE 24 km of Oroszlány). Esterházy Palace - Classical style (1781), Vértes museum, Gunpowder Tower.
- 5 Etyek (German: Edeck) (W 26 km of Budapest). Etyek-Buda wine region. Hungary-well (Magyar-kút), Etyekwood - Andrew G. Vajna producer and Demján great entrepreneur built here the Korda film studios. Calvary Hill, Roman Catholic Church of the Visitation of Blessed Virgin Mary (Sarlós Boldogasszony katolikus templom) (1814 and 1816) Neo-Baroque style, Reformed temple 1839, Boti Chapel (built in the Gothic style in the 15th century) with Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception (Szeplőtelen Fogantatás R.k. teplom), Local History Collection, Circuit Cellar-line (Körpince-sor)
