Chajari

Chajari is a city of 45,000 people in Entre Rios, Argentina.

Chajarí sits directly adjacent to one of Argentina's most critical trading highways, making road access exceptionally straightforward.

• From Buenos Aires, motorists travel north along National Route 14 (Ruta Nacional 14), a well-maintained, dual-carriage highway often called the Ruta del Mercosur. The approximately 480 km drive takes roughly 5 hours under standard traffic conditions.

The Chajarí Bus Terminal (Terminal de Ómnibus), located near the entrance of the city, serves as a major transit node. Multiple long-distance bus operators (such as Flecha Bus, Río Uruguay, and Tata Rápido) run daily schedules connecting Chajarí directly to Retiro Terminal in Buenos Aires, Concordia, and Paraná.

The city layout is built on a user-friendly, classic Spanish grid system.

• Walking and cycling: The central commercial district, public squares, and avenues are exceptionally flat, clean, and pedestrian-friendly. Cycling is highly popular among locals.
• Local remises: Private radio-taxis (remises) are the most popular and efficient method for tracking between the central plazas, the long-distance bus terminal, and the thermal resort complexes on the outskirts. Fares are metered and highly affordable.

Chajarí is locally famous for its high-grade agricultural yield and traditional artisanal goods.

• Citrus and regional preserves: The area produces exceptional sweet oranges, mandarins, and lemons. Roadside stalls and local shops sell delicious, authentic home-made citrus marmalades, fruit liqueurs, and pickled preserves.
• Artisanal harcuterie (Fiambres): Due to the deep Italian heritage, local salamis, cured hams (jamón crudo), and farm cheeses (quesos de campo) are highly celebrated across Argentina for their exceptional quality. Drop into any local fiambrería near the central avenues to buy a custom vacuum-packed selection.

The culinary identity of Chajarí heavily honors traditional Argentine barbecue alongside homestyle Italian pasta traditions.

• Local river fish: Freshly caught regional river delicacies from the nearby Uruguay River basin, including Especialidades de Dorado and Surubí, typically prepared grilled with herbs or stuffed with vegetables.

Drinking options in the region vary significantly between casual open-air spots and secure, indoor hotel lounges designed for late-night socializing.

• Fresh juices: Locally sourced tropical fruit juices, milkshakes, and specialized smoothies are widely available at local markets.
• Artisanal beers: Crisp commercial lagers and local craft selections are served ice-cold at evening gastro-pubs.

• The Horizon Bar, Plaza District Axis (on the rooftop of the central hotel complex). Daily 16:00-00:00. An excellent open-air spot to enjoy an ice-cold beverage while watching the sunset over the city skyline. Moderate.

• Local news: The district's primary English-language newspapers and regional radio stations can be purchased or tuned into at nearly any central kiosk for live weather and traffic updates.

• Pharmacies: 24-hour retail pharmacies and emergency clinics line the primary roads directly outside the central municipal zones, offering highly competitive pricing on essential medications.

• Federación – Travel 30 minutes south along Route 14 to visit the historic town of Federación, home to the oldest and largest water-park thermal complex in the province, on the banks of the Uruguay River.
• Concordia – Head 1 hour south to explore the department's largest economic city, rich in historic castles, citrus orchards, and extensive riverfront promenades.
