Chimanimani

Chimanimani is in Eastern Highlands, Zimbabwe.

Chimanimani is a small town near the Chimanimani Mountains and close to the border with Mozambique. The area is known for its spectacular mountain scenery, forests, waterfalls and outdoor activities.

The surrounding region is quieter and less developed than many of Zimbabwe's larger tourist destinations. It is particularly attractive to travellers interested in hiking, nature, scenery and rural landscapes.

The nearby Chimanimani Mountains form part of the natural landscape along the Zimbabwe–Mozambique border. The mountains contain rugged terrain, valleys, streams, forests and areas of natural vegetation.

Chimanimani developed as a settlement serving the surrounding agricultural and mountainous region. Its location near the Mozambique border also gave it importance as a local trading and transport centre.

The surrounding mountains have long been important to communities in the area. Tourism later became increasingly important because of the area's natural scenery and opportunities for hiking and other outdoor activities.

Chimanimani has a relatively mild climate compared with much of Zimbabwe because of its elevation and mountainous surroundings.

Summers are generally warm and wetter, while winters are cooler and drier. Rainfall can be higher in the mountains than in the surrounding lowlands. Weather conditions can change quickly in mountainous areas, particularly during the rainy season.

Local buses or Combis to Mutare 150 km takes 3 hours. or to Masvingo four hours.
