Cuneo

Cuneo is a town in Piedmont. The capital and largest settlement in the Province of Cuneo, it is famous for being a bastion of the Italian Resistenza, which was one of the fiercest opponents to Nazi Germany as well as their puppet state local regime, the Italian Social Republic. Nowadays it is a small yet vibrant town with over 55,000 inhabitants, beautiful architecture, breathtaking natural beauty, and a good base for day-trips

Cuneo's beautiful railway station is well connected to other towns and cities in the Piedmont region. There is an hourly train to/from Turin. Cuneo also gets some trains from Nice and Monaco, usually via Ventimiglia.

As with other towns in the area like Bra and Alba, one can explore Cuneo by foot. The town does have a bus network, but if you are not used to rural schedules, it may prove inconvenient and long.
