Dasol

White Beaches in Dasol

Dasol is a coastal municipality in Pangasinan. It has a sizable number of amenities along the beach and other attractions to draw tourism.

Understand

[edit | edit source]

Dasol is a sleepy township tucked away on the coastal plains of Pangasinan, which is largely vested in salt harvesting through the channeling of seawater into ponds where it is evaporated.

The municipality came about when it was created out San Isidro (now Burgos) in 1911. It has a somewhat interesting history, though, given that both American and Japanese vessels were sunk offshore during World War II. There was a brief communist insurrection around 1950 that cost a few lives.

Its name is believed to have been derived from the word "dalus-dalusan," which means "a place where one passes by often." It is known for its natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere.

It is home to about 32,000 people (census, 1 July 2024) "edit wikidata"
