Dunseith is a town in the Turtle Mountains area of North Dakota. It has a population of about 739 people. Its elevation is 1,700 feet.

[edit | edit source]Dunseith is a destination point for visitors, because it is the gateway to the Turtle Mountains and it lies just a few miles south of the International Peace Garden. This beautiful botanic garden straddles the border between Manitoba, Canada and the US.

[edit | edit source]- By car:from Grand Forks or Devils Lake, take US highway 2 northwest to Rugby, then north for 32 miles on state highway 3.

More than 150,000 varieties of flowers adorn this 2,339-acre (947-hectare) botanical garden commemorating peace between the United States and Canada along the world's longest unfortified border. It showcases a large flower clock structure, a twin bell tower carillon and the Peace Chapel. It is also home to the International Music Camp, Friday night concerts in June and July, and interpretive center, floral clock and souvenir shop. RV-friendly campground. $10 per vehicle.

Go next
[edit | edit source]Take US Highway 281 about 12 miles north from Dunseith to the International Peace Garden. From there you can drive west on SH43 to Lake Metigoshe State Park.
