English Harbour

English Harbour is a town in southern Antigua.

VC Bird International Airport is approximately 15 miles (24 km) away and is served by flights from the UK, US and elsewhere.

Taxi journeys from St John's cost approx US$20 return.

• Bus #17. Leaves from St John's West Bus Station once its full and takes about an hour to get to English Harbour. Stops at Nelson's Dockyard before English Harbour. EC$3.75. (updated Dec 2025)

• 17.008333-61.7644441 Nelson's Dockyard. One of the finest condition Georgian naval ports in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is a museum, as well as a working Dockyard, bakery and some bars and restaurants. US$15/EC$40.  (updated Dec 2025)

Tickets to the Shirley Heights/Dow's Hill Interpretation Centre are US$15/EC$40 as of 2024. They do not accept payment cards on site, but you can pay by card down at the Nelson's Dockyard site.

Clarence House is only accessible by booked tour during season, on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 9:30AM or 3PM. It is closed to tourists otherwise. You can book and pay online^{[dead link]}, $20US or $50EC as of 2024.

There is a weekly party at Shirley Heights every Friday at 5pm during season, called "Rum in the Ruins". You can book and pay online^{[dead link]}, $25US or $65EC as of 2024.

• Shirley Heights party. A weekly party held on Sundays at a nearby colonial fort to celebrate the start of the new week. Good food, although it (and drinks) is quite expensive. (updated Jan 2018)

Pillars Restaurant is next to Nelson's Dockyard. Boom Restaurant is across the harbour, with a free shuttle boat from Pillars. (takes 1 minute). Boom has a lunch deal including pool access for US$95.

Pillar's Restaurant has a bar. There is also the Galley Bar within Nelson's Dockyard.

There are numerous options within the town. Energie Apartments has a gym attached with yoga classes included.

Within the Nelson's Dockyard complex, there are two hotels, the Cooper & Lumber Store Hotel, and the Admiral's Inn. Admiral's Inn also has rooms on the other side of the harbour, the Gunpowder Suites. They have a free shuttle boat between the two, which takes 1 minute.
