Get in
[edit | edit source]Gejiu is reached mainly by road and rail from other parts of Yunnan. Travellers arriving by train use Gejiu Railway Station outside the central urban area, while intercity buses arrive at Gejiu Bus Station in the city.
By train
[edit | edit source]1 Gejiu Railway Station (个旧站), Jijie Town (outside central Gejiu; shuttle buses connect the station with the city centre). The main railway station serving Gejiu. Shuttle buses to central Gejiu operate according to train arrival times and pass Gejiu Bus Station on the way. ¥10 for the shuttle bus to central Gejiu.
By bus

The main intercity bus terminal in Gejiu, with connections to destinations around Honghe Prefecture and other parts of Yunnan.Local bus routes 1 and 2 connect the station with central Gejiu, and standard city bus fares are ¥2. Shuttle services also stop here on the way between the city centre and Gejiu Railway Station; the full city–railway station fare is ¥10.
By car
[edit | edit source]Gejiu is connected by road with Mengzi and other parts of Honghe Prefecture. Roads outside the urban area can be mountainous and winding.
Get around

Central Gejiu is relatively compact, with Jinhu Lake serving as a useful landmark in the middle of the urban area. Many places around Jinhu Lake, the main commercial streets and nearby attractions can be reached on foot. The terrain becomes steeper toward the edges of the city because Gejiu is surrounded by mountains.
Local buses are the main form of public transport within the city. Several routes connect the central area with residential districts, Gejiu Bus Station and other parts of the urban area. Taxis and ride-hailing services are also widely used and are convenient for destinations that are farther from the centre or less well served by buses.
A private car is more useful for places outside central Gejiu, especially in the surrounding mountainous areas. Roads outside the city can be steep and winding. Cycling is possible for short trips in flatter parts of the urban area, but the hilly terrain and traffic on some main roads make walking, buses or taxis more practical for most visitors.

[edit | edit source]- 1 Jin lake (金湖; jin hu), 112 Jinhu East Road. Open 24 hours. A large urban lake in central Gejiu, surrounded by parks and public spaces. The lakeside area includes Jinhu Cultural Square and walking paths, and is a popular place for evening walks.
- Manhao scenic spot (曼耗风景名胜区; manhao fengjing mingshengqu). Baohua park, Baiyun mountain, Datun lake.
- 2 Baohua Temple (宝华寺), Baohua Park, Baohua Road (in the southern part of Baohua Park, on the western slope of Baohua Mountain). A historic temple complex founded in 1670 during the Qing dynasty. The complex includes the Jade Emperor Pavilion, Sanqing Hall, Lingguan Pavilion, Guanyin Pavilion and several other traditional buildings. It is a protected cultural heritage site and has long been used for religious activities and local recreation.
- 3 Yun Temple (云庙, 云省会馆), 1-15 Baohua Road. A Qing-dynasty historic building complex also known as the Yunnan Guild Hall. It was used as a meeting place for merchants and is closely connected with Gejiu's commercial and tin-mining history. The complex is a provincial-level protected cultural heritage site.
- 4 Gejiu City Museum (个旧市博物馆), Jinhu Cultural Square (At Jinhu Cultural Square), ☏ +86 873 2192860. 09:00-12:00, 14:00-17:00; closed Mondays. A local museum documenting Gejiu's history, mining industry and tin culture. Its exhibits include bronze artifacts and displays about the city's long history of tin mining. Free.
- 5 Yasha Di Waterfall Hot Spring (丫沙底瀑布温泉), Jiaosha Township, along the Ge-Yuan Expressway (Near the Gejiu section of the G8011 highway), ☏ +86 873 2135611. 08:00-22:00; last admission 20:00. A mountain hot spring complex built around natural streams and waterfalls, with more than 20 outdoor pools. The spring water emerges at a high temperature and the site is surrounded by forested slopes.
