Great Salt Lake State Park is one of the easiest ways to visit the Great Salt Lake's shore. Facilities are very basic. Do not expect a typical "park" with lots of trails and shade. The park is primarily a maria and access point to the Great Salt Lake.
Get in
[edit | edit source]The park is about 20 minutes west of Salt Lake City, and is located just off I-80.
Fees and permits
[edit | edit source]Vehicles up to 8 people are charged a $10 entrance fee. There is a $2 entry fee for bicyclists. Utah's Annual State Parks Day Use Pass will cover entry to this park.
Get around
[edit | edit source]The park itself is small and can be explored on foot once inside.
See
[edit | edit source]See the shores of the Great Salt Lake. Look north toward Antelope Island, or west to catch a sunset over the water. Large numbers of birds can be seen, especially during migratory seasons in the spring and fall.
The nearby Saltair Resort can be seen from the park.
