DeutschHaldia is an industrial city in the South Rarh region of Purba Medinipur, near the confluence of the Hooghly River and the Haldi River. It is home to the Haldia Dock Complex, which is a part of the Kolkata Port Trust. The Haldia Refinery of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) was commissioned in 1975 and many industries cropped up in Haldia since then.

By bus
[edit | edit source]There are several bus services in Haldia, including the Haldia Municipality Transport Service, which takes 1⁄2+1/2 hours from Kolkata. However, you are advised to check and confirm fare and timings before travelling.

- Auto-rickshaws & totos: Electric three-wheelers (totos) and shared auto-rickshaws are the most popular method for short point-to-point travel across the township blocks. Fares are highly affordable.
- Local taxis: Can be chartered at the railway stations or major hotel desks for day-long business tours across the distributed industrial complexes.

- Local markets: The Durgachak and Township markets are the primary commercial zones where you can purchase fresh fish, local sweetmeats, and traditional Bengali cotton handloom sarees.
