- Mount Arapiles, one of Australia's most famous rock climbing areas is about 30 minutes drive to the west. It might not have the grandeur of the European alps but its ease of access is world class. It would make a pleasant day trip with easy walks around the crag but most visitors go to climb and so stay at the campground for a few days or more. Parks Victoria charge a camping fee but are very relaxed about enforcement. There is often water in tanks at the campground but it should not be used for drinking - bring your own and plenty of it. Supplies can be obtained from the small town of Natimuk which is an attractive town in its own right with a number of old buildings and a wide pleasant main street.
