Imbituba, a municipality in Southern Santa Catarina, is home to Praia do Rosa, a renowned beach village, roughly 75 km southwest of Florianópolis in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil.

[edit | edit source]Between Garopaba to the north and downtown Imbituba to the south, it is highly regarded for its crescent-shaped bay, rolling green hills, and prominent surf culture. Discovered by surfers in the 1970s, the village has evolved from a quiet fishing outpost into an eco-tourism hub. It forms part of the Right Whale Environmental Protection Area (APA da Baleia Franca); between June and November, southern right whales nursery along the coast and can frequently be spotted close to the shore.

[edit | edit source]- By car: From Florianópolis, drive south along the paved BR-101 highway to the access exit for Garopaba/Imbituba, then follow the local unsealed roads leading into the village.
- By bus: Regional buses run from the Florianópolis central bus station (Rita Maria) to nearby Garopaba or Imbituba. From there, local municipal buses or taxis connect directly to the beach area.

- Whale Watching: Peak observation occurs from August to October. Local viewpoints along the northern and southern cliffs offer excellent land-based vantage points.
- Hiking: Several coastal trails (trilhas) wind through the Atlantic rainforest hills, connecting Praia do Rosa to neighboring beaches like Praia Vermelha to the north and Luz to the south.
