Jupiter is a town located in northern Palm Beach County, Florida, near the Martin County border. According to the 2020 census, the town had a total population of 61,047.

[edit | edit source]- President Donald J. Trump International Airport DJT IATA in West Palm Beach, 20 minutes from Jupiter, is a small, yet highly adequate airport. The airport serves airlines and general aviation aircraft.
By bus
[edit | edit source]- 1 Greyhound (bus stop), 6812 W Indiantown Rd (in front of a Shell gas station), toll-free: +1-800-231-2222. The nearest cities with Greyhound stations that can go to Jupiter are Port St. Lucie and West Palm Beach. Tickets are not sold at this stop; they must be bought in advance online or at a full-service terminal.

Route 10 goes through Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter. The main stops in Jupiter are at FAU's Jupiter campus on 5353 Parkside Dr., in front of a Seacoast Bank on 585 W Indiantown Rd., and in front of Mint Eco Car Wash and Detail Center at 220 Maplewood Dr. A single one-way trip is $2, and an unlimited 1-Day Pass is $5. 3-Day ($12), 7-Day ($20), and 31-Day Passes ($70) are also available.
By car

Interstate 95 and SR 706: The easiest way to reach Jupiter is by car. Interstate 95 goes through the western outskirts of Jupiter. Taking Exit 87B or 87A will take you onto State Road (SR) 706, which becomes Indiantown Rd, where you can then go eastwards to enter Jupiter. Continuing east will take you through miles of suburban development, before crossing Indiantown Bridge and reaching coastal Jupiter, where you can go north or south to access the beach and the many resorts along it.

US Highway 1 and SR A1A: US-1 enters Jupiter close to the coast, and it intersects Indiantown Road. A1A runs parallel to US-1 and also intersects Indiantown before merging into US-1 further north.
Old Dixie Highway: The northern end of Old Dixie Highway goes through the middle of Jupiter before merging onto US-1. Other than taking US-1, it's a reliable way to get into Jupiter.
By train
[edit | edit source]The nearest train station is in Magnolia Park, the current northernmost terminus for Tri-Rail. It's recommended that you have someone waiting at the station to pick you up, or have a taxi ready, as the station is about an hour away from Jupiter. To reach Jupiter by public transportation (via Palm Tran) from the station, you can take Route 33 north to The Gardens Mall, then switch to Route 10 to continue heading north to Jupiter. You could also take Route 31 north to the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, then switch to Route 3 north to the Gardens Mall, and Route 10 to Jupiter.
There are plans by both Tri-Rail and Brightline to expand northward and eventually have a station of some kind in Jupiter. Tri-Rail's planned station would be placed between Toney Penna Drive and Jupiter Lakes Boulevard, with it acting as the terminus of the new "Green Line".

[edit | edit source]The easiest way to get around Jupiter and South Florida is by car. The town is set up on grid system, and is fairly easy to navigate. Downtown is roughly 20 minutes north east of President Donald J. Trump International Airport. Palm Beach County is served by Interstate I-95 and U.S. Highway 1 and US 441. It is also served by Florida's Turnpike.

- 3 Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum, 500 Captain Armour's Way, ☏ +1 561 747-8380. Tue-Sun 10AM–5PM, last tour at 4PM. Lighthouse tours will be temporarily suspended if lightning is in the area. $15 for adults, $8 for children ages 6-18, $12 for US veterans and seniors.
- 4 Loggerhead Marinelife Center, 14200 U.S. Highway 1, ☏ +1 561-627-8280. 10AM–5PM daily. A nonprofit sea turtle research, rehabilitation, education, and conservation facility with interactive exhibits, viewing of sea turtles in their care, and guided tours. The facility also helps operate the nearby pier and is right next to a park and nature trail. Every year, a festival known as TurtleFest is hosted in the park behind the facility. It is a free-admission event that contains interactive educational exhibits as well as music, art, shopping, and games. Admission is free.

A charter fishing boat that offers deep-sea fishing on the reefs off Jupiter, which host a wide variety of fish. $120 for 1 person for a half day. $1,200 for a whole-boat charter for up to 10 people.
- 2 DuBois Park, 19075 DuBois Rd, ☏ +1 561-624-0065. Sunrise–Sunset daily. Watch the breakers crash into Jupiter Inlet as boats push their way out. Admission is free.
- 3 Jupiter Dive Center, 1001 North Hwy A1A (20 minutes north of West Palm Beach airport), ☏ +1 561-745-7807, info@jupiterdivecenter.com. Tue-Sat 10AM-6PM, Sun-Mon 10AM-5PM. PADI 5-Star dive center offers daily dive charters to the 3rd largest reef system in the world. Jupiter Dive Center is also a fantastic place to see the annual Goliath Grouper aggregation. This event occurs annually off the coast of Jupiter during the months of July, August, and September.

Hosting two major league teams (Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals) for spring training in February-March, and four minor league teams all summer long.
- 5 Riverbend Park, 9060 Indiantown Rd (just west of the Turnpike on Indiantown Rd; accessible by foot from any of the neighboring natural areas), ☏ +1 561-741-1359. 6AM-7PM daily. One of the most popular outdoor recreation spots in the county, this park in Jupiter serves as the hub for all the longer hiking trails in the area, while boasting 10 mi (16 km) of hiking/biking trails, 7 mi (11 km) of equestrian trails and 5 mi (8.0 km) of kayaking trails of its own. Situated at the headwaters of the Loxahatchee River, the park is especially popular among bikers. Most trails are short and easy. Canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are available to rent. Free.
- 6 Cypress Creek Natural Area, 10035 W Indiantown Rd. Sunrise-sunset daily. It's immediately northwest of Riverbend Park, and is most notable for its blackwater streams that feed the Loxahatchee River and its historic and cultural resources, including the site of the Loxahatchee River Battle during the 1838 Seminole War. The planned Jupiter-Indiantown Trail runs from Riverbend Park through the area, and horses, canoes, and kayaks are also welcome. Free.

A locally owned surf shop located near the Loxahatchee River, selling surfboards, premium apparel, paddleboard and kayak rentals, and beach gear. Private paddleboard lessons, kayak tours, and group experiences are also available by reservation.
- 2 Downtown Abacoa, 1200 Town Center Dr. 6AM-2AM daily. Abacoa's town center, which is home to various shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Events are frequently hosted here, including local bands performing in the amphitheater, a farmer's market held every Wednesday, and Food Truck Fridays, where food trucks gather on the 2nd Friday of every month. The most notable event is the Galbani Feast of Little Italy, where every November for three days, the downtown is filled with live Music, authentic Italian cuisine, festival rides, games, unique shopping experiences, and complimentary wine and cooking demonstrations. Roger Dean Stadium, Abacoa Golf Club, a Marriott Hotel, and FAU's Jupiter Campus are nearby.
