[edit | edit source]Kaavi is off major highways, in a web of regional roads, often just leading to other regional roads. Regional road 573 comes in from Outokumpu providing access from the southeast. From the direction of Kuopio, take regional road 566 from Riistavesi. From the north (highway 75 between Nurmes and Siilinjärvi), regional road 570 goes to Juankoski (part of Kuopio these days), and from there you'll continue along regional road 569 to Kaavi.
By bus

- 1 Kaavi church, Kaavintie 24. The main landmark in town is the relatively new church, finished in 1983 to replace the earlier church that had burned down in 1980.
