[edit | edit source]Mostly fertile plateaus for agriculture & ranching and home to much of the country's recoverable minerals. De facto independent from 1960-1966 during the "Katanga Crisis".

[edit | edit source]The region's gateway is Lubumbashi International Airport (FBM IATA) which sees flight from Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Johannesburg as well as all major Congolese cities.
Get around
[edit | edit source]Road condition ranges from bad to non-existent, depending on the season. There is a railway linking Lubumbashi with Likasi but trains are limited to once or twice per months and schedules are not fixed. Simply put, travelling by other means then flying is a proper challenge.
