Llanwrtyd Wells

Llanwrtyd Wells (Welsh: Llanwrtyd) is a small town in Brecknockshire.

With a population of less than 800, LW claims to be the smallest community in the UK with the status of a town. It was awarded the Calor Village of the Year title for 2009 on account of its strong community spirit.

On the Heart of Wales railway line and A483 between Llandovery and Builth Wells.

• Man versus Horse race: . A race to determine whether men or horses are better at running over mountainous terrain. As of 2021, it has only been won by men twice since it began in 1980. Held in June.  (date needs fixing)
• Bog snorkelling championships: . Over 150 bog snorkellers from around the world compete in late August.  (date needs fixing)
• Mid Wales Beer Festival, Neuadd Arms Hotel. Last held in late November 2019. (updated Aug 2019)
