- The Los Angeles, Orange County, and Oklahoma City articles provide a more comprehensive guide to those visiting the cities and locations where the games will be taking place.
The Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, the 2028 Summer Olympics, will be held in Los Angeles from July 21 to August 6 2028. They will be followed by the Paralympics from August 22 to September 3 2028. Some events will be held in other locations throughout Orange County; soccer/football matches will use California venues normally used by Major League Soccer, American college football, and the National Football League; and canoe slalom and softball will be held in Oklahoma City.
Los Angeles will be hosting the games for the third time, and is the third city to do so, after London and Paris. It previously hosted the games in 1932 and 1984.

[edit]Get in
[edit]General information about traveling to Los Angeles appears in the Los Angeles article. Similarly, for those who plan to attend an event being held in Oklahoma City, that city's article has general travel information.
By plane
[edit]Most International and long-distance domestic flights are to Los Angeles International Airport at the southwest of the city. The airport people mover is expected to be completed for the 2028 Games. From the airport, take the people mover to the K Line to the E Line to get to Exposition Park or Downtown LA
By train
[edit]Several Amtrak routes serve Los Angeles; they are a slow but scenic way to travel from other parts of the US. Those trains end at LA's Union Station; from there, take the A , B or D Lines to Downtown LA, then the E to Expo Park.
Brightline West, a private high-speed rail line from Las Vegas to the Los Angeles area, is under construction and may be completed in time for the Olympics.
Get around
[edit]Los Angeles is a sprawling metropolis with venues all over the place. Venues in Pasadena, Pomona, Carson and the San Fernando Valley are farther from Downtown L.A. and the Coliseum than Versailles is from Paris.
During the 1984 Olympics traffic was feared to be nightmarish and local media were drumming on about this for months ahead of the games, which led many locals to forego driving during the games, actually resulting in better than usual driving. Back then the LA Metro did not yet exist, while it includes roughly 100 mi (160 km) of light and heavy rail lines as of 2017 with a lot of new construction planned to happen before the games - much of it approved in a 2016 ballot measure unconnected to the games. Many venues are connected to public transport already and for many others, such a connection is planned. Choosing lodging with good public transit access can make getting around much easier. Examples include Pasadena and the Westside. If you are going to a venue outside of the center city, suburban accommodations near that venue may be your best bet.
See
[edit]One of the selling points of Los Angeles for these Games, as well as for the earlier 1932 and 1984 editions, was its number of pre-existing facilities, some of them left over from 1984 or even 1932. Some new venues are being built, but these are mostly stadiums for major U.S. professional sports teams that would have been built with or without the Olympics, and are scheduled to be completed years ahead of the Games. Canoe slalom and softball were moved out of California to Oklahoma City to eliminate the need for new venues for those events.

[edit]Association football, Canoe slalom and softball
[edit]We don't know all the soccer venues, but some are likely to be outside SoCal. In 1984, in addition to the Rose Bowl, soccer was played in the Bay Area, Boston area, and Annapolis, Maryland.
Canoe slalom and softball will be held in Oklahoma City
Getting there
[edit]Flights from Oklahoma City are relatively limited, especially in comparison to LAX. The nearest airport with significant international service, Dallas-Fort Worth, is several hours away by car. Besides DFW and LAX, other international airports with flights to Oklahoma City are Houston Intercontinental, Denver, Chicago, Miami , Atlanta and Charlotte.
