Maccagno is a comune (municipality) of 2,000 inhabitants in the province of Varese in Lombardy, in the Val Veddasca about 70 km northwest of Milan and about 25 km northwest of Varese, on the banks of Lake Maggiore.

[edit]- S30. The trains of S30 line stops in Maccagno. It runs from the airport of Milan in the south (1:44h) to Bellinzona in the north (0:40h) with plenty of stops along the line.
By boat
[edit]- A regular boat service stops at the lakeside towns and villages of Lake Maggiore, including Maccagno. The timetable can be found online.

[edit]- Hiking. There are a few paths with different length and difficulty depart from Maccagno for the surrounding valleys. More information can be found at the local tourist information.
- Swimming. Maccagno's pebbled beach - Tronzano beach - is popular with the locals. There is a cafe nearby as well as an area for volleyball and basketball. Water sports hire is also available.
- Churches. Maccagno is home to a number of churches including the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Punta which boasts gorgeous lake views.
- Art museum. The Civico Museo Parisi Valle in Maccagno highlights artworks from the 1930s to the 1980s.
