Magburaka

Magburaka is a city in Sierra Leone.

Magburaka is the former capital of the north of Sierra Leone. Makeni became the new capital during the war. Magburaka was a stop on the Bauya - Makeni branch of the now defunct Sierra Leone Railway. Some of the old buildings can still be seen. From 2011, there has been a major programme of reconstruction. Roads which were dirt throughout the town have been repaired and resurfaced with asphalt.

The main road from Makeni is new and in excellent condition, as are most roads in the town itself.

Western style commercial radio station, Capital Radio, can be heard on 103.3MHz.

Magburaka is just south of the road which links Makeni to the diamond mining Kono district. There is also a road going south east to Bo.
