Raigad Fort

Mahad (महाड Mahāḍ) is a town in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India.

So many people have this wrong impression that it is famous for Ganesh Temple which is one of the 8 Ashtavinayak temples, but there are two cities having similar names. The town which comes in Raigad district is not a place among the Ashtavinayak.

Mahad is 175 km (109 mi) from Mumbai and 105 km (65 mi) from Pune.

Mahad is connected to Mumbai via NH 66, and Pune via Bhor-Varandha and Tamhini ghats.

By bus

All MSRTC buses from Mumbai to South Konkan stop at Mahad. There are buses from Pune too.

By train

Mahad has no railway station. The nearest is 18.11340273.3300771 Veer  KR  Veer railway station on Wikipedia. All passenger trains and very few express stops at Veer, including Ratnagiri Passenger from Dadar Central  CR  and Diva SWV Passenger from Panvel  CR .
