Coconut Grove is accessible by the Coconut Grove station on the MetroRail, or the 48 bus. The 249 bus goes from the Coconut Grove station to the Douglas Road station, and is the Coconut Grove Circulator. Buses generally feed into those 2 train stations.

One of the oldest homes in Dade County, built in 1891 on the shore of Biscayne Bay. Offers a glimpse of Old Florida during The Era of the Bay. Situated on the shore of Biscayne Bay, this was the home of Ralph Middleton Munroe, one of Coconut Grove´s most charming and influential pioneers. Today, the estate is one of the last remnants of the once vast Miami Hammock, the term for the wooded area that grew around the Miami river valley. Two buildings remain, the main house and the boathouse, with attached boat launch. Enjoy sitting in the rocking chairs on the spacious porch used as a gathering place or on a bench under a tree for solitude. The forest surrounding the home is hardwood hammock and is the last of its kind in the area. The unique architecture includes period furniture and wide porches that afford magnificent views. $2 to enter the park, collected by honor system in a drop box; under age 6 enter free. • 25.74437-80.210482 Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, 3251 South Miami Ave, ☏ +1 305-615-6619, fax: +1 305 285-2004. Pseudo-Italian estate built by James Deering, of the International Harvester fortune. Includes a main house filled with art and furnishings and ten acres of gardens on Biscayne Bay. $25 adults, $10 children 6-12. Admission is free for children 5 years of age or younger. Must purchase tickets online. While this is described as something of an art museum, this is much more one of those museums that just preserved a really rich guy's house the way it was when he died, including the art with the occasional traveling exhibit.  
• 25.722381-80.2479593 Plymouth Congregational Church, 3429 Devon Road. Completed in 1917, this church was built by a single man using only a hatchet, a trowel, a plumb line, and a T-square. Its architectural style was modeled after the old Spanish missions of Mexico.  (updated Jul 2021)

• 25.72602-80.244981 Coconut Grove Playhouse. A South Florida landmark that hosted live theater from 1956-2006. It is closed and awaiting restoration.  (updated May 2019)

• The southern border of Coconut Grove is Biscayne Bay. The area features a sailing club (Coconut Grove Sailing Club), a yacht club (Coral Reef Yacht Club) and a marina (Dinner Key Marina). Pan Am's seaplane operations were based in Dinner Key, and the Miami City Hall is based in the old Pan Am terminal building.

Outdoor shopping center with many familiar chain stores and restaurants in nice Mediterranean-styled architecture . Completely redone and reopened in 2023.  
• Books & Books, 3409 Main Hwy. Su-Th 9AM-8PM, F Sa 9AM-9PM. Outpost of a local chain of bookstores. Also contains a cafe. They stock almost all major books on the history of Miami that are still in print. (updated Feb 2026)

There is a Taco Bell restaurant at Highway 1 and 32nd avenue. Most restaurants in Coconut grove are quite upscale sit down places, largely focusing on European cuisines.

• Casa Xabi, 3145 Commodore Plaza. Delicious but extremely pricey Basque restaurant. $50+ per person. (updated Feb 2026)
• There is a Taco Bell at Highway 1 and 32nd avenue.

• Barracuda Bar and Grill, 3035 Fuller Street (1 Block from Cocowalk). Noon-3AM daily. This throw back to the old Grove is a "come as you are" locals spot. Enjoy their nice beer selection and shoot a game of pool or play some darts. Not expensive and open late it's always a fun time. 
• Sandbar Grill, 3064 Grand Ave (in Coconut Grove), ☏ +1 786-638-0133. There are 20 televisions in this bar. The menu has seafood specialties and $0.25 wings on Mondays. Sandbar also has theme nights like the "White Trash Bash." 
• Greenstreet Cafe, 3468 Main Highway (in Coconut Grove), ☏ +1 305 444-0244. – Serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A bit more upscale but has a fantastic outside seating area for cocktails. 
• Vinoteca, 3070 Grand Ave. A quiet wine bar with a wildly extensive selection. (updated Feb 2026)

The hotel's 12-story tower sits on Sailboat Bay. The hotel's 120 one- and two-bedroom suites all have bay or city views. While this hotel's past as a bastion of the Miami criminal underworld and artistic demimonde is the stuff of legend, the vibe now is much more old white people and an empty Mexican restaurant. $189-$279 per night.

As a general rule, don't venture out too far west, past SW 32nd Avenue as the area can get desolate. The best way to get from the train station is to take the 249 Coconut Grove Circulator or at least come from Coconut Grove station not Douglas Road station.

While Coconut Grove is a fairly compact district and easily walkable, many of the streets do not have sidewalks, with sidewalks often disappearing half way down a block. While this is not much of a problem during the day time, be careful of inattentive drivers if walking around the area at night.
