Monowi is a small city in rural Nebraska.
Understand
[edit | edit source]Monowi is somewhat famous due to the fact that it is the smallest incorporated city in the United States, with a population of one. The sole resident, Elsie Eiler, is not only the mayor, but also the local bartender and librarian.
Get in
[edit | edit source]By car
[edit | edit source]Monowi is located on Nebraska's State Highway 12, between Grant Street and goes through the slightly busier Broad and Paulina Street.
Get around
[edit | edit source]As Monowi is very small, getting around on foot is fine. However, there are a few roads through the town, so moving by car is also an option.
See
[edit | edit source]Rudy’s Library for reading the wonderful books, and driving through the town and looking at the abandoned buildings, or just stroll around the town.
Do
[edit | edit source]The town is mostly abandoned, besides Elsie’s home, and it might be good to drive by all the abandoned buildings, or there is Broad Street which has Elsie’s Tavern and Rudy’s Library.
Buy
[edit | edit source]Eat and Drink
[edit | edit source]- Monowi Tavern, 9 Broad St. The only eatery in Monowi. It has good steak and ribs, and it has tasty and cold beer to drink.
Sleep
[edit | edit source]Monowi doesn’t really have anywhere to sleep, visit the nearest village, Lynch for a hotel or an Airbnb. If someone wants to become a resident to sleep here, ask the only resident, Elsie Eiler for a house.
