Northern Tamil Nadu consists of Chengalpattu, Chennai, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Kanchipuram, Ranipet, Tirupathur, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore and Viluppuram districts. The northeastern part of the region forms the Chennai Metropolitan Area (CMA).
