Rajnagar (রাজনগর Rājnogor) is a historical town in the Birbhum district of West Bengal.

Founded by Bir Singh, a local Hindu ruler, Rajnagar later fell under the control of Muhammad Shiran and Ali Mardan in the early 13th century. It then came under the Mughal Empire, with the Nagar Raj zamindars of Rajnagar being the feudatories of the Mughals.
The Nagar Raj was established by Jonad Khan in 1600. It witnessed a period of autonomy during the rule of Asadullah Khan. His son Badiuzzaman tried to shake off the allegiance to the Nawab of Murshidabad. He was awarded the title of "Raja" by Nawab Murshid Quli Khan. During his reign Birbhum was ravaged by the Marathas.
The Nagar Raj witnessed the zenith of its power during the rule of his son Asaduzzaman. Although he remained faithful to the Nawab, the British and Nawab Mir Qasim later defeated him in 1761, and again in 1765. Although his estate was restored by a treaty, his autonomy was curbed significantly. Eventually, the Nagar Raj was overshadowed by the Hetampur Raj in Dubrajpur. After the capture of Birbhum in 1786, the British set up the headquarters at nearby Suri. This led many to leave Rajnagar for Suri and Dubrajpur.
