Santa Praxedes

Santa Praxedes is a coastal municipality in Cagayan on Luzon, the Philippines. It is the gateway to the Cagayan Valley from Ilocos.

Understand

[edit | edit source]

Formerly known as Langangan, Santa Praxedes is located in a valley at the northwesternmost edge of the Cagayan panhandle. It forms the triboundary with Apayao to the south and Ilocos Norte to the west.

Although maps show Santa Praxedes as a coastal municipality along the Babuyan Channel, access to its littoral has historically been blocked by the Cordillera mountains until the construction of a series of trails in the 2020s.

It is home to about 5,000 people (census, 1 July 2024) "edit wikidata"

It is also served by passenger vans and minibuses from Tuguegarao. Travel time from either Tuguegarao or Laoag takes between 3 and 4 hours.
