Shiding
Shiding (石碇區) is a rural district of New Taipei, with a population of about 7,000. It is the site of the Fetsui Reservoir, which provides much of the water to the cities in the northern part of Taiwan island.

By bus
[edit]The district is accessible by bus from the Taipei metro.
- Bus 666 connects Jingmei MRT Station (on the Green Line), Muzha MRT Station (on the Brown Line), Shenkeng, Shiding Old Street, and Wutuku.
- Bus 795 connects Muzha MRT Station (on the Brown Line), Shenkeng, Yongding, Pingxi, and Shifen.

Parks and nature
[edit]- 5 Bagua Tea Plantation (八卦茶園), 北宜路六段獅仔頭坑巷16號. Viewpoint overlooking hills of tea fields extending down to the winding Fetsui Reservoir.
- 6 Fetsui Reservoir (翡翠水庫).
- 7 Luku Incident Memorial Park (鹿窟事件紀念公園). A park commemorating one of the worst incidents of the white terror in Taiwan where over 400 people were arrested by the military government of the ROC and about 35 people were eventually executed.

[edit]- 1 Huangdidian (皇帝殿 Huángdì Diàn) (West trailhead is near Shiding Old Street. Multiple east trailheads, including Yongding served by Bus 795). A strenuous trail along a ridge, with many sections of ropes, ladders and exposed cliff sides.

[edit]Pouchong (baozhong) tea is a lightly-oxidized (greener) oolong tea, produced in the hills south of Taipei. It's name means "the wrapped kind", as it was historically wrapped in paper while drying.
